Sunday Funday

Good morning, all. How was the weekend? Hopefully it as great!

I was too busy livin’ life yesterday to either a) post or b) take photos- which needs to be addressed immediately. Sometimes I forget I’m supposed to be blogging about more than just funny memes.

Not really. I just got lazy.

But no more! I promise I’ll be much better with my photos from here on out. I should probably consider investing in a camera, since I’ll probably need one for Fitbloggin in June anyway. Maybe for my birthday?

Anyway, time for a quick Sunday update!

I missed my long run this weekend, so I’m feeling a little disappointed. I was supposed to run 6 miles yesterday- but how could I run 6 miles with so much else to do!

Yesterday, after trying to meet with our Pastor, Shane took me to see the suit he likes for the wedding. He looked so handsome in it- it was definitely a moment for me. With time seeming to go so, so fast (my birthday is 2 weeks from today, which is mind blowing) I know it’s going to feel like no time at all until the big day is finally here!

After suit viewing, Shane and I made our way over to a sport’s bar in town called Deano’s to watch the number 2 ranked Wichita State Shockers take on Indiana State for the MVC tournament title. While I thought there were a couple close calls (sort of), the Shox still pulled it out and became MVC champs for the first time since the 8o’s Talk about a comeback story. I can’t wait to watch them heading into the NCAA tournament this year!

Last night, after the excitement of the game, I decided on a longer walk outside rather than doing my cross training in the gym. It was a whopping 58 degrees and sunny here yesterday, so it was pretty much perfect. (I should have taken photos, it was so gorgeous!)

I’ll remember to snap some today when I’m out there- it’s supposed to be a high of 75 today (!!!!) Shorts and long sleeves is my favorite weather.

In other news, last night Shane and I finally made it to the movies…but not to see the Lego Movie. No, no no… we saw the new 300 movie instead. In 3d.

Not that I’m complaining- I wanted to see it, too. However, I will say I liked the original much better. The plot on this one was a little weak (Weaker than the first. Yes.) And I found I didn’t care nearly as much about what happened to the Athenians than I did about the Spartans.

But ya know, to each their own Greek city state.

Even with all of the visuals, which mostly were great but which almost started to feel video-game like at parts?- there was too much weird/unnecessary other stuff that I found distracting. Like really graphic sex scenes for no strategic reason. With crazy women.

She’s pretty much nuts.

Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Anyhooo, it’s Monday! And it’s supposed to be warm and beautiful! I can’t help but be in a great mood when spring is so, so close. I intend to get every drop of sunshine and warmth out of today that I can- maybe I’ll even run my 6 miles outside today?

Have an amazing Monday everyone!

Let the Countdown Begin

Happy Friday! Do any of you guys have some exciting plans for the weekend? I can’t believe a whole week has flown by already? That’s just crazy talk.

You know what else is crazy talk? It’s officially only 3 months until the wedding day!

Yep- that’s right. Only about 91 days until I get to kiss this handsome man and become his wife!

Can you guys believe that, or what? It seems like just the other day I was talking about the wedding, and someone asked me when the big day was…and I said “Oh, not until the end of May.” And they gave me a look like “well that’s not too far off now” and I realized that it will legitimately be here before we know it!

Shane and I got the news this week that we’re officially approved for our apartment, and we’re good to go to begin the big move about mid-April- which is also super exciting news! We have a date at the furniture store tonight, so maybe we can start buckling down and finally pick some stuff out! I’m so excited I can’t even stand it…the possibilities are endless. 😉

In other news, my workouts this week have been stellar. Monday I had an Insanity date with Rachel, and then on Tuesday I succeeded in running 3 miles for the first time in probably years after I did some leg and arm training. Then Wednesday was a cross training day, so I lifted back and shoulders and then hopped on the treadmill for a long, high interval/high incline power walk. Yesterday was a running day again, and this time I made it 4 miles after about 30 minutes of ab work and a little superset leg and shoulder action.

Today, I have an appointment with the Stairmaster…and it’s looking like a long 5 mile run on Saturday. I’m loving adding running back into my plan! It’s truly one of the most gratifying forms of cardio for me.

I also have a few errands to run this afternoon- including to Ulta for a new curling wand and to Michael’s for some scrap booking materials. Then, this evening, we have an open house to attend, more furniture shopping and last but not least- Shane and I have plans to go see the Lego Movie! (YESSSSS!)

the_lego_movie_2014-wide (hahaha…little Lego Batman cracks me up)

Finally, we’ve legit tried 3 separate times to go and it’s been sold out every dang time. The solution is to hit the latest showing of it on a Friday night and hope most of the kiddies are in bed by then.

Wish us luck!

Have a fantastic Friday my sweet friends!

Question of the Day: Tomorrow is the very last home basketball game for the WSU Shockers and I am so excited to see them get to 31-0! Do any of you locals love the Shox as much as I do? Do any of you out-of-staters know anything about the Shockers?

It’s a Thing

Let me tell you guys something.

I remember some time ago, in the not so distant past, when getting up at 6:30 felt like it was the earliest, most horrifying hour of the morning. 7:00am- piece of cake. But 6:30?

Forgetaboutit.

Fast forward to now- and getting up at 6:30 on a week day throws me for a loop. Often times, if I skip my first alarm and let me second alarm wake me up instead, I’m shocked at how different 6:30 feels than my “first alarm”- aka 5:15.

5:15am. The new normal. If someone had ever told me that I would go to bed every night setting my alarm for 5:15am, I would have laughed.

But here we are, almost 8 months into my first “big girl” job and 5:15 is the usual.

Now, I don’t usually get up at 5:15 (unless it’s for a morning workout) but I still, always, without fail set my alarm for this time.

No matter what.

I guess it isn’t the worst habit to have? Unless I’m having a rough morning, and end up snoozing the alarm from 5:15 to 7:00.

Yeesh.

The whole point of this story was mainly to illustrate that A) I have issues with the snooze button, and B) I got up yesterday morning for another early workout.

Woop! Another victory!

The workout of choice yesterday morning was actually an older Jillian Michaels workout that I haven’t done in forever- the “second week” workout from Ripped In 30.

It wasn’t the hardest workout I’ve ever completed, but it wasn’t a joke either. I got a good, sweaty 30 minutes in before 6:15 even showed it’s face.

I’d say that’s a Friday morning win!

I also made an amazing Blueberry Banana Oatmeal smoothie that was oh so tasty.

I really wanted to celebrate coffee Friday with the rest of my Starbucks gift card from Christmas, but there were some unforeseen circumstances that arose, so that had to be nixed.

Bummer.

After work, I went home to change for another workout until Shane let me know he actually had to work the open casting call for The Amazing Race last night. This guy- can you believe that’s part of his job?

I feel like this post is a bit scattered?

I blame all of the 5:15am alarms.

Anyways, it was all winning yesterday…until Shane and I went out on an adventure.

An adventure to find a movie we’ve been trying to rent on On Demand for the past 3 weekends.

Until realizing it won’t ever be out on On Demand.

So, we did the next most logical thing.

Red Box.

Low and behold, the red box was completely “rented out” of it. I seriously couldn’t believe it. I told Shane last night that I’m feeling like maybe we aren’t meant to see this movie after all?

The movie, just so you guys know, is….

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters!

percy-jackson-sea-of-monsters-blu-ray

I’ve been wanting to watch this for forever. I think stories about sea monsters are fascinating. I have a thing about sea monsters, mythical sea beings and prehistoric ocean dwelling things.

I dunno. It’s a thing.

I especially love this frighteningly awesome Plesiosaurus.

Plesiosaurs

While he ^^^^^ probably doesn’t make an appearance in the movie, I still really want to see it! Normally I have much better taste in movies, I promise. My love of sea monsters is impairing my judgement.

I’m thinking we’ll go out in search of a new Red Box tonight- fingers crossed that they have it this time!

As for right now, we’re watching our home team WSU Shocker game. They are playing KILLER lately, and Shane goes to school there, so we’re pretty big fans.

After that, a workout may be in the agenda. We’ll see! 😉

Have a fantastic Saturday night guys!
