It Was a Big Weekend

Happy Monday!

Are any of you starting your own “Fresh Start” today? I feel like I’ve seen a ton of people talking about how today, rather than January 1st, is the day to start diets, exercise programs, ect. because it’s the first day back to reality.

What do you guys think? Are you “the 1st” or “the 1st Monday” kinda people? πŸ˜‰

I totally intended to be the former, but I’m afraid I ended up the latter. (There’s that English degree. I knew it was hiding in there somewhere!) My workouts last week were a bit sporadic- they were there, but weren’t as consistent as I would have liked them to be.

I’m starting to feel like maybe I need a little something new?

With that being said, I know some of you may have noticed a specific fitness goal of mine in the post from Friday.

Can anybody see where I’m going with this?

If any of you guessed “make it through a full round of P90x”- you would have guessed right!

Correctemundo, friends. This girl is starting a new round P90x Lean routine- and I’m doing the whole gosh darn 90 days.

I have to.

It’s a 2014 Fit Goal. πŸ˜‰

Speaking of P90x, if you’ve been considering giving it a whirl for this 2014 year, check out this great articleΒ on the program. If it doesn’t get you pumped, you might want to reevaluate what gets you pumped?

Okay, so some exciting stuff happened over the weekend. It was a big weekend in the way of my “blogging career” (hahaha) and a big weekend for FitbieBride in general!

Check it out:

FitbieBride is international!

While this photo only evidences the UK, Australia, and Canada– I’ll have you guys know that I’ve also had people view the blog from India, Germany and Israel. Just not all at once…

You guys are the best! πŸ™‚

Another exciting thing that happened this weekend?

Let me start by asking another question- have any of you fellow blog writers and readers ever heard of the Healthy Living Summit?

It’s been around since 2009, and was founded by 6 healthy living bloggers who were looking to put together an event where like minded people could come together, learn, grown and share their healthy lifestyles. It’s grown a ton since ’09, so they’ve done an amazing job!

Some verbage from their website- “While the summit focuses on eating well, staying fit, and general wellness, we are also excited to be leading discussions on blogging ethics, social media and other internet-driventopics in high demand in our community.”Β

Is that not right up my alley or what!?

Look at all the cool places they’ve hosted before!

This year, they’re hosting the event in Madison, WI- which is awesome, cause I’m all about the midwest. πŸ˜‰

Well, the exciting thing that happened this weekend, was that I got an e-mail from one of the gals in charge of planning the HLS- Heather. (She blogs over here.)

About a month ago, I applied to be on the “Dream Team” committee for planning HLS 2014. Truthfully, I wasn’t really expecting to hear anything back at all, so when I got Heather’s e-mail today I sort of lost my mind a little bit.

Know why?

(I know that photo is lame and super hard to read, but bare with me!)

Heather extended me the opportunity to become a part of the HLS Street Team, an online community of healthy living bloggers that help discuss/debate ideas for the event, interact with sponsors, share info about HLS 2014 through here for all of you guys to see and a bunch of other fun, random opportunities leading up to this year’s summit.

She also said that theΒ  Street Team is the group they’ll be going to when looking for Mini Mingle leaders, info-booth staffers, discussion leaders and other participation opportunities…

Can you guys tell how excited I am?

I remember reading about the Healthy Living Summit back when I first started reading Courtney’sΒ blog and thinking about how much fun it looked.

Now I might be getting the chance to meet, work with and collaborate with these other bloggers that I’ve admired, and that inspired me to start this little blog here- and that is really, really cool!

Well, it’s time for this girl to go and get her P90x pants on! On today’s agenda: Core Synergistics…urrrgh.

Have a fantastic night!

Plyo X Workout Review

Alright kiddos, how is everyone doing today? Can you believe it’s almost 2014? WHAT? It blows my mind. I don’t really feel ready?

But I can’t complain- I have a lot, a lot to look forward to this upcoming year!

For one, we find out in about 5 days if our Doritos Superbowl Commercial made the top 5. (Remember about a month ago when I told you guys we made top 24?)

Then of course, there’s the wedding! It’s exactly 5 months from today! πŸ™‚

And we can’t forget all of the fun bridal showers, couples showers and bachelorette parties that will be coming my way in the next few months. I can’t wait!

I also have some exciting developments to reveal a little later on as to where my life might be heading in the next year as well…

2014 is going to be an awesome, awesome year. πŸ™‚

I’m not 100% sure what our plans are for tonight, but I do know I’ll be doing something with my sweetheart and maybe something with some of our friends that are in town for the holiday.

We’ll see- either way, it’s always a great time when Shane and I are together. πŸ™‚

Do any of you guys have something exciting planned for tonight?

So in the spirit of the new year, and health and fitness and all those great “resolutiony” things, I thought I’d leave you this afternoon with my very first workout review!

P90x Workout Review

Plyo X

If any of you out there have ever attempted any of the P90x workouts, chances are your go to was never Plyo. Why? Probably because it has a pretty nasty reputation.

You’ve probably heard something about it at one point or another, if you’re into fitness of any kind, at least once.

I won’t lie- it is rough. Especially if you aren’t used to this particular type of training.

Plyo, after all, is essentially just jump training. Through the 60 minute workout, you’ll do all different types of jumps, spins, hops and leap- really any drill that has to do with power, speed and height, you’ll likely do it at least once.

A large quantity of the moves in this DVD are squat jump variations, which I LOVE. I really, really love squat jumps. I put them in all of my mini circuits because they A) work the largest muscle group in the body and therefor give you the most calorie burn for your buck, and B) they get your heart rate up really quickly, boosting your metabolism.

These 2 things are both very good things, making the squat jump King of all cardio/strength combo moves, in my opinion. πŸ™‚

I also happen to really love training my legs. They’re by far my favorite body part to work.

Long story short, if you’re like me, you’ll probably really enjoy Plyo X- even if it does sort of suck, which…it sort of does. But it is really rewarding once you get through it! And it leaves you a sweaty mess, as evidenced by this lovely post-workout selfie I took after Shane and I did it last week:

(Duck face..I’m sorry, guys.)

Even if you hate training legs, if you know anyone that has access to the P90x program, I recommend that you give this workout a whirl at least once. You might love it as much as I do!

Even if you don’t- you get to see you made it through “the mother of all P90x workouts”- and that’s a pretty cool thing. πŸ˜‰

We Did It

So, guess what Shane and I did on Thursday night.

If you guessed “sweat our faces off doing lots of squat jump variations” then hot dang, you’d be right on point. πŸ˜‰

I literally took the above photo in the middle of doing leg swings. Surprisingly, it didn’t turn out nearly as blurry as I thought it might.

Unlike this one…

Which I took standing still during a water break.

My camera’s weird.

I tried to get Shane to pose for a sweaty post-plyo picture with me, but he wasn’t having any of that. So I posed for one by myself.

You can imagine it…can’t you?

P.S.- the workout top I wore is my new one from Christmas. It’s purple, and I love it. Target wins again! (Thanks Mom)

While I hate to cut out early on you guys, I’m going to have to do just that today. Shane and I are currently up in Kansas City for a little mini vacation. It’s our Christmas Gifts to each other, and we’re also be celebrating out 4 and 1/2 year anniversary.

We’re staying at a hotel on the Plaza, which I’m excited about. All the Plaza Lights are still up, so it still look a lot like this:

I grew up going to the plaza all the time with my mom and my Aunt Julie as a kid- she lives super close, so we’d always make time to shop around when we’d stay with her. Lots of wonderful memories!

PLUS Shane and I will get to see some family and friends while we’re up here, which is always a great thing.

Catch ya later guys- have an awesome Saturday!

“Double” Date and Shadow Boxing

Hellooooo again- fancy seeing you here. πŸ˜‰

I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet- tonight is a very busy night. I’m heading over to Shane’s house in about 10 minutes to get our workout on. We met for lunch today, and when I found out he was attempting to do a double tonight, I was all in.

Err…I was in. Mostly because I sort of have a feeling we won’t be doing a double. 1 P90x workout is hard enough- but 2?Β

Get outta town.

(It was a whole hilarious exchange, ending in Shane looking at me and saying “Please, don’t post that on the blog…”

Don’t worry, sweet pea, I won’t. πŸ˜‰ )

Still, I’m excited either way because A) one of the workouts is an old p90 favorite of mine:

and B) the other is Chest and Back-and I was supposed to work chest today anyway.

Perfection, if you ask me!

It also happens to be the night we’re celebrating our brother-in-law’s birthday, so we have that right after our attempted double, which means I get to see my future in-laws, sisters, brother-in-law’s AND all my sweet nieces and nephews tonight!

So, hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to give you guys that P90X workout review I’ve been wanting to do tomorrow!

For now, I’ll leave you with this new workout- I’m a huge fan of kickboxing and tae bo, and this is a kickboxing workout you can do anywhere!

You’ll notice there’s no “rest” period here- that because some of these moves are active rest moves, and are designed to help you catch your breath while you’re still moving.

Well, it’s about time I make like Tony Horton and BRING IT!

Catch ya later!
